Playing with words

Description
This is an activity that you can do orally or in writing with all children from the beginning of school age when they know the alphabet. Start by writing down or spelling someone’s first name, e.g. A-N-D-R-E-W than ask your child to create a sentence by using each of the letters as the initial of a word. e.g. Andrew never does really efficient work. For smaller children with less vocabulary you might adapt the activity by allowing them to use the letters randomly e.g. We’d rather not enter anywhere. You can also start at the back, e.g. We efficiently ride down Northside Avenue.
