Storytelling

Encourage your children to invent stories and invite them to write them down (on their own). Many children love notebooks, so provide them with different types of notebooks for them to use - if they happen to have their favorite elements (unicorns, superhero, etc) on them even better! Then they can read you their stories once they've finished them. Make a point of not correcting any errors as the idea is to encourage their creativity, not their grammar or spelling. You can also encourage them to draw a picture at the end of their story as well.
