Creating a recipe

Objectives

Creativity

Description

Creating a recipe for children who can’t read: Take the recipe of a cake or cookies or some other dish that you would like to prepare with your child/ren. Think together how you can make that work for someone who’s illiterate. Use pictures to illustrate the ingredients, choose appropriate measurements that can be shown in a pictorial form: spoons or cups for sugar, milk, flour etc. Draw the corresponding number of eggs – show in a drawing how to separate them. Find pictoral ways how to show whether something needs to go in the oven, for how long and how to prepare the form.
